Our Story
Sameer started a business from home where he initially sold burgers from. His entire family assisted him, from preparation to service. His business is called the Wynburger, they source local ingredients and creatively combine them into some of the best foods Cape Town has tasted.
Where we are today
The Wynburger is currently undergoing a facelift as the business has moved forward from a residential operation to a brick-and-mortar store. However, the food quality remains untouched as Sameer studied and served in the hospitality industry for many years.
In the Wynburger they pride themselves on using the freshest ingredients locally sourced on days when they are closed. In recent years the business has gone from strength to strength as they make the best burgers. Succulent beef patties served on light pumpkin fritter buns. When unpackaging the product you can smell that it is flame-grilled to a point of smoked perfection.

The OG Pumpkin Fritter Design and creation Story
It was a cool November evening in 2019 when I found myself far from home, navigating the challenges of spending my first Ramadan away from the comforting embrace of my family and the familiar traditions we held dear. As the sun dipped below the horizon, signaling the time for iftar, the evening meal to break the fast during Ramadan, I found myself torn between two culinary cravings that were tugging at my heartstrings.
You see, back home, iftar was a time when my family and I would gather around the table, sharing laughter and stories, while indulging in delicious homemade dishes. Among them, my absolute favorite was my mom’s pumpkin fritters. They were crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, and they carried with them the warmth and love that only a mother’s cooking could provide. I missed those fritters dearly.
But, on the other hand, I couldn’t shake the thought of a juicy burger, a culinary delight I’d always been fond of. The thought of a succulent patty sandwiched between two soft buns, topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and a savory sauce, was too tempting to ignore.
As I pondered these culinary conundrums, inspiration struck like a bolt of lightning. What if I could combine the best of both worlds? A pumpkin fritter burger – it sounded like an audacious and thrilling idea. I could hardly contain my excitement as I imagined how the sweetness of the pumpkin fritter could complement the savory flavors of a burger. This was an experiment I had to undertake.
With newfound determination, I decided to take a bold step and leave my job in the corporate world. I had always harbored dreams of becoming an entrepreneur, and this was the perfect opportunity to turn my passion into a business. Armed with my mother’s treasured pumpkin fritter recipe, a love for burgers, and a dash of creativity, I set out to create something truly unique.
The journey was far from easy. I spent countless hours experimenting with different recipes, trying to strike the perfect balance between the crispy, sweet pumpkin fritter and the hearty, savory burger. There were moments of frustration when things didn’t quite work out, but I persevered, knowing that I was onto something special.
The fritter, with its golden-brown exterior and tender interior, became the star of the show, while the burger elements provided the perfect complement.
On November 1, 2019, with a heart full of hope and a small food truck named “FritterFusion,” I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey. The response from customers was overwhelming, as they marveled at the unique and mouthwatering creation that was the pumpkin fritter burger. Word quickly spread through the town, and soon, I had a loyal following of customers who couldn’t get enough of my fusion creation.
My business became more than just a way to break my fast during Ramadan; it became a symbol of the blending of traditions, flavors, and dreams. I had successfully turned my longing for home-cooked meals and my entrepreneurial aspirations into a thriving business. As I looked back on that fateful November evening, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the journey that had led me to this point. In the end, it wasn’t just about food; it was about embracing change, pursuing one’s passion, and creating something beautiful out of it.
